Whether you work in a large workplace with a lot of co-workers or just a small office you should do what is right anyway no matter what others around you do.
You and only you can claim the fame of your integrity. I have heard employees state “well if they are not doing what they should, then why should I?” Why shouldn’t you do what is expected of you no matter what?”
Do you have to be a lemming following one another? If they jump off the ledge then everyone else should? We all know the real answer is “no” but sometimes we end up following the crowd and compromising our values and beliefs, even if just for a moment, it can be damaging.
Below is a saying that apparently Mother Teresa had in one of the children’s homes, it is great advice and oh so true. Just do what is right anyway and you will not have to second think anything.
Do It Anyway
People are unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered.
LOVE THEM ANYWAY.
If you do good, people accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
DO GOOD ANYWAY.
If you are successful, you win false and true enemies.
SUCCEED ANYWAY.
The good you do will be forgotten tomorrow.
DO GOOD ANYWAY.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
BE HONEST AND FRANK ANYWAY.
What you spent years building may be destroyed overnight.
BUILD ANYWAY.
People really need help but may attack you if you help them.
HELP PEOPLE ANYWAY.
Give the world the best you have and you’ll get kicked in the teeth.
GIVE THE WORLD THE BEST YOU’VE GOT ANYWAY.
