Hello to all of you who have been following ppm4u, and to those of you who might have just found us. I just wanted to thank you for all of your support this past year and to let you know how much I enjoy interacting with all of you and visiting your blogs, getting to know you also.
I am continually amazed at all of the wonderful people who I have come in contact with and the talent that each of you have and are willing to share with others. I enjoy each of your posts and look forward to receiving them each day.
I wanted to let you know that I will be out of the country (USA) for the next two weeks. My Italian Grandmother has recently passed away and I am going to visit and pay respects to those family members who are in my father’s village in the small southern Italian town of Guardia Piemontese and Acquappesa.
I have posted ahead to make sure life goes on in my blogging world, but I may be a little slow in answering comments as Wi-Fi is not that available where I will be at for the first week (a gift and curse). I will be in full swing upon my arrival back with lots of to stories to share about workplaces that I encounter on my travels (they are always so much fun).
Thank you again for all of your support!
Ciao,
Tina
I recently read an article about how we try to make our brains do things that they are just not wired to do. Like talk on a cell phone and drive at the same time, our brain cannot do both well. The article was very interesting as I have not read a lot about our brains and how they really function. I just hope that mine continues to do so for quite a while longer.
The brain is an amazing organ when you really begin to think about it and what it is capable to doing. Dr. John Medina, a molecular biologist, who career is studying the brain and its function, has a lot to say about what our brains are actually capable of doing.
He states that “the brain does not pay attention to boring things.” Well that make sense to me, but what do we do when we have to listen to things that our brain feels is boring, but our boss feels we need to listen too? Can we train our brain to pay attention?
Dr. Medina also states that “stressed brains are less productive.” I do know that I cannot work well when I am stressed, but does that mean that I am stressed because my brain is stressed? I never thought of it that way before.
The brain is an amazing organ indeed. You might want to take a look at the brainrules blog as there are a lot of interesting “brainy” posts on it that are pretty interesting.
