What do You do When You Work in a Zoo?

Do you ever feel like you work in a zoo?  I know that many times we say “I feel like it is a zoo in here” when we are having hectic days.  Our offices can veer off course slightly and before we know it we have zoo behavior going on.  What does that look like?  Staff members can get on each others nerves, like monkeys picking at each other, the boss can develop a Tarzan like behavior where they beat their chest to get others to recognize they are the leader and everyone needs to follow them.  Maybe a few staff members like to joke around and that is fine now and then, but when it becomes a habit and they are doing more playing around then work it causes frustration and stress for other co-workers as they pick up the slack.  The office as a whole can lose their focus and when focus is lost  morale goes down and stress goes up and everyone cannot wait until each day ends.  If you start to notice an occasional monkey flying through the air or a chimp rattling it cage take notice and address the issues at hand right away before it become unbearable.  Open communication between office staff and their supervisors and physicians is the key to keeping the office a fun place to work and monkey business in its place.
