Team Effort, Motivation and Branding

Understanding  practice value, business branding and organizational culture can be a bit overwhelming if you haven’t had the time to keep up in the ever-changing business world.  We are so busy doing the everyday “business stuff” just to keep our practices up and open that it is hard to keep up with all of the newest business “jargon.”  But it is very important that we do in order to keep our doors open and our staff connected with what our purpose is so that they can grow right along with it, and not only grow, but promote and brand our practice which are two very vital key elements for growth.  Just recently we re-defined what our practice purpose was just to make sure that all of us were onboard and moving in the same direction.  One small thing that we that we did that was different  was allowing each person to design their individual business card promoting the practice.  They were told that they could have any design that they wished because they needed to like them and be proud to pass them out (why have a card if you were not going to give it to anyone?).  Everyone had fun coming up with a card that they would like to give out to potential clients.  What was interesting is that even though no one was told what to put on the card other than the Doctors name and our office information along with their name, they all put our office mission statement on the card.  This was a statement that we recently sat down together and came up with.  This statement is part of our “brand” for the office and each person totally believes in it and it really showed by the fact that each individually put it on their own business card.  It is the internal branding that is going on that affects our external branding to those we market to.  It takes everyone being on the same page to start the momentum moving in the right direction.  It is amazing how one small thing like each person having the freedom to design their own business card has made such impact on each employee to make them look forward to being able to market with “their” new product.
