Last night my husband and I had the opportunity to have a wonderful meal with a lovely couple. After dinner the men went to another room to talk about cars, racing and such and we women shared pictures of our recent trips (we did not travel together) of Italy.
As this women spoke about how much she loved her trip she mentioned that she felt like her “time clock” was ticking away too fast and that there was still so many things she really wanted to do. She was genuinely feeling the sand running out of the hour-glass and there was no way to stop it, as we know.
When I left, I could not stop thinking about how she was feeling and knowing that same feeling as I have had it myself. I am sure most of us as we reach a certain time in our life begin to have some very real reality checks about where we are headed and what we want to accomplish.
It is all about choices and making ones that we can live life to it fullest for whatever the day holds. It is the lessons learned along the way.
As I was thinking this, I happened to remember what Dr. Seuss, had to say about “the places you will go” and good advice it is. What do you think?
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…” ― Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
