Keeping Employees Productive

As an Office Manager, I have come to the realization if I do not make sure that my staff has good functioning equipment to do their work that I am creating a bad situation.

It is only a matter of time before they get sick and tired of not being able to function to their full capacity because they lack the tools to do so.

It is important to keep the lines of communication open with your staff members, asking them if there are tools they feel would help them to be more productive.

It is also just as important to let them know what the process is that you, the manager, has to take to try to get them the tools they need.

Many times staff will think if they tell their manager they need something or would like something that they can expect to get it right away.

It would be nice if it were so simple, but the fact is that managers have to get permission from their boss or the business owner to get the requested equipment for their staff.

As frustrating as it can be for staff waiting for new equipment, it can be equally if not more, frustrating for the manager as they wait for their employer to follow through with the request.

This is where the lines of communication need to be kept open and managers need to give updates to their staff so that they can understand their requests have been given to the next in command and they will be kept in the loop of the process.

“Skill in the art of communication is crucial to a leader’s success. He can accomplish nothing unless he can communicate effectively.” – Anthony Robbins
