If you are like me, you may have 3 to 4 email accounts. A personal account, a professional account, a decoy account to use when signing up for things, and other email accounts like Facebook messages and twitter messages. Well you get the point, we are all managing multiple account and it can all be overwhelming.

Here are some tips to help you reclaim your freedom and relieve Email overload stress.

Tips:

  1. Do not check your email inbox every few minutes through out the day. Designate specific times of the day to tackle your emails. Do not start your day by checking emails. Spend the first time of your day doing the important things for the day. set up a time later in the day for 15 minutes to manage your new emails. And schedule another time later on the day to check your inbox again.

  2. Take immediate action on emails that you can respond to immediately.

  3. Unsubscribe from marketing and email notifications that never really bother to look at.

  4. Use filters on your email accounts. For example set up a filter with the word “Receipt” to automatically archive those emails on a folder called “Receipts”. Link to an article to learn how to do this: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/set-email-filters-gmail-hotmail-yahoo/

  5. Fix your social network notification settings to not send you an email every time someone likes your status update, or every time some action takes places around your account. Learn how to update your Facebook settings, Link: https://www.facebook.com/help/154884887910599

  6. Do a weekly assessment of your account. Spend some time on a Saturday or Sunday to clean up your email accounts.

By taking these simple actions your will reclaim more freedom from your Inbox.
