I came across a great blog post on the Management Excellence website written by Art Petty about the rise of informal leadership in the workplace. He lists 7 ideas for cultivating informal leaders in your place of business which are very good no matter what size of an organization you have. As I read his article post I thought about those who I work with and see the leadership skills that they posses because of implementing some of these same ideas in our office. Just because someone has the title of Supervisor or Manager does not make them a leader. There are some people who are natural leaders, but for the most part leaders have a lot to learn in order to become successful at leading their troops. By having a workplace culture where informal leaderships is cultivated and encouraged you will be growing a powerful leadership team that will have passion and desire to move your organization forward.
