This time of year can cause more stress for many of us. With approaching Holidays we may be taking on more than we actually have time to complete. It is hard to balance, work, family and a big Holiday Season.
I have heard people actually stating that they cannot wait until the Holidays are over so they can get back to normal life, and the Holidays are not even here yet.
Often people will physically become sick because of the added stress of getting extra things done on time. It is hard to add so much to our plates when we have to continue to work our regular schedule too.
WebMD reported these facts about stress and work related stress:
Forty-three percent of all adults suffer adverse health effects from stress.
Seventy-five percent to 90% of all doctor’s office visits are for stress-related ailments and complaints.
Stress can play a part in problems such as headaches, high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes, skin conditions, asthma, arthritis, depression, and anxiety.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) declared stress a hazard of the workplace. Stress costs American industry more than $300 billion annually.
The lifetime prevalence of an emotional disorder is more than 50%, often due to chronic, untreated stress reactions.
Stress is a serious health issue and Holidays can add additional stress to your already busy life. If you feel yourself over the top with regards to your stress level you might want to step back and ask, “Is all of this really worth jeopardizing my health?” The answer is “no.” Rethink, “what you can do or not do so that you too can enjoy the Holiday Season?”
