“Everyone has his day, and some days last longer than others.” Winston Churchill
Wow, what a day….It seemed as though it was never going to end and not only for me but my co-workers felt that same way. It was hardly 10:00 a.m. and we were wondering if lunch was coming soon. Then once it did we all went out together and knew once we got back to the office it was going to start all over again, which it did. We tried to figure out why this day felt so different from yesterday, or the day before, but there was no real difference in what we were doing, it was just that the day seemed to drag on. I am sure you have experienced days like this also. It is a strange event to say the least. But we decided since we all felt that same way we were going to make the best of it. We were able to add a little more conversation with our patients in the office, and get some of the lower things on our “to do list” done, and feel a bit more relaxed as we did them. This was one of those days that the chit-chat might seem more than usual, but when you looked at our production it was actually higher because we were able to focus a bit better. One of the most important things that we all realized was that days like this do not happen often and since the day was dragging on, and we had extra minutes of time we took advantage of them by moving ahead and not kicking back being non-productive. As the day finished I was really excited to see what all I completed and how my desk was pretty clean. Even though it seemed like a long drawn out day and the normal 8 hours seemed like 12, I was ahead of the game at the close of the day. Morale of the story: If you seem to have extra time for some reason, take advantage of it and do as much as you possibly can to move ahead, because tomorrow will probably be a totally different day. Don’t make the mistake of slacking off instead seizing the moment to be productive. Jump onboard and move forward you will be very glad you did.
