We have all heard the saying “you choose your attitude” and know that it is true, even though there are times that we would like not to.
Jeffery Gitomer has a great book titled “Yes Attitude, How to Find, Build and Keep a YES! Attitude for a Lifetime of Success.” You can google Jeffery Gitomer and find a list of all his great easy reading books that are available. I have found each one of his books that I have read to be informative, fun and motivating.
In the “Yes Attitude” book Jeffery shares a collection of his 20 favorite attitude gems. I thought I would share some of them today to get our “YES Attitudes” up and going strong.
1. Change your input to change your attitude. If you want to achieve positive, you have to surround yourself with it and live it.
2. You were born to win. You must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win. (A famous Zig Ziglar quote.)
3. You will get whatever you want if you help enough people get whatever they want. This is a quote that many have claimed to have said. It doesn’t matter who said it, what matters is that you do it.
4. Ignore people who tell you, “You can’t.” (Except your boss) People will try to discourage you for fear that you will pass them. Don’t let it happen.
5. Don’t dwell on or whine about the problem; concentrate on the solution. Resolve how you can; don’t lament why you can’t.
6. Forgive and go forward. Grudge block positive. Until you clear the past, you are destined to repeat it.
7. Self-talk equals self-performance. Look at any athlete. Self-talk is a crucial part of expected positive performance.
8. What is the picture you have of yourself? That is what you will become. Spend 15 minutes a day focusing on a positive picture.
9. Every obstacle presents an opportunity, if you are looking for it. “Revel” and “lament” are choices. Your choices.
10. It is not what you say; it is how you say it. The tone of your verbiage determines the atmosphere of your environment.
I don’t know about you, but after reading these 10 key points about attitude self-awareness they made me totally aware that I truly am in control and make the choice as to what my attitude will be.
Even though we know our attitude is our choice, what life throws at us sometimes makes it difficult. Keeping key points like the above printed out and around our work and home space will serve as a reminder that it is all up to us.
“A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extraordinary results.” ~ Wade Boggs
