Adding Value To Your Job

Do you do your job the best that it can be done?  Only you can add value to what you do.

You can add value by doing more than is necessary and exceeding the expectations of those you serve, your co-workers, boss and customers.

Here are three great ways you can add extra value each day at work:

1. Tell the truth.  It is sad to say but the truth is scarce. Some businesses make it a standard of not telling their customers the truth or at least not the whole truth.  Mistakes happen, but if you make a habit of always telling the truth you will be able to repair any problems that come up with those you work with, because honesty develops trust.

2. Pump up your personality.  Be enthusiastic about what you are doing, be genuine and enjoy yourself at work.  Others will see that you are sincere and enjoy you also.  People can feel when people are excited about what they do.

3. Meet those you serve; i.e., customers, vendors, your boss or co-worker’s needs in advance.  Anticipate in advance how you can do what you do better and be ready when it is needed. People notice when they are served by someone who has anticipated what they may need.

“You don’t get paid for the hour. You get paid for the value you bring to the hour.” ~ Jim Rohn
